All Weather Pitch
The All-Weather Pitch at our facility is Clare’s first full sized all-weather GAA pitch. The pitch can be rented on an hourly basis and must be pre-booked and pre-paid through an online booking system.
Community Trails
The facility also includes a ‘Community Trail’ comprising a floodlit 0.6 km perimeter tarmacadam-surface walk around the all-weather pitch and another trail loop around the Ten Acre site which connects with local walking loops. It will also include a cross country running course with additional banked ground features. The Ten Acres Community Trails are accessible at all times.
Ten Acres Site Safety and Security
A new GAA club site safety and security system has been put in place throughout the grounds of Clarecastle GAA Club. This includes 36 CCTV cameras monitored on a 24 hour basis around the GAA grounds and facilities.
About – How did the Ten Acres project come about?
In 2015, Clarecastle GAA purchased the site known as the Ten Acres from NAMA. This is the ten acre field that is located between Ryan’s Field and the main pitch. The purpose of this purchase was to ensure this green space would be retained for community benefit. The land was purchased through the generosity of 25 club members who contributed the funds to purchase the 10 acre site from NAMA. After the purchase, a committee was formed by the club to identify potential uses for the site. Among the recommendations following a comprehensive review was the development of an all-weather pitch. The project was first supported through Roche who part-funded the project to perpetuate its legacy in Clarecastle through the provision of a facility that can be used by the entire community. It adds to the existing GAA club community projects that include the Community Garden on club grounds, car access to the Clarecastle N.S. and the People’s Park.
